Stone Free festival makes its return this year for one hell of a lineup. The O2 arena will once again play host to one of the year’s coolest events which previously saw the likes of Alice Cooper, Rick Wakeman, Wilko Johnson and more play last year’s edition. Festival organisers have promised us bigger and better this year and they have just the lineup to prove that they mean business!
Whilst the festival has been reduced to just the one day compared to last year’s double day event, this year’s headliner is none other than Richie Blackmore’s Rainbow playing the classic rock anthems of Rainbow and Deep Purple. This alone is worth the price of admission and with the band just recently releasing some new music for the first time in many years this year may see the Stone Free Festival go-ers and die hard fans treated to some new tunes live.
Richie & Co are not the only top draws of the day however. The Blue Oyster Cult return to the stage once more. The last time we saw the band was for a sizzling summer show last year at the Kentish Town Forum that saw them play to a packed sold out show. This year they are joining the festival bill playing the IndigO2 venue which shall once more be pulling the second stage duties of the weekend. Joining them will be non-other than GUN who have had a very busy few months including a stint this time last year at the annual takeover of Camden Town, Camden Rocks festival that saw the band electrify the Electric Ballroom to many fans. This time they’re back on the grandest stage of them all to continue their momentum!
The Answer may prove to be the answer to all of your rock and roll needs as they Join Gun and The Blue Oyster Cult on the Indigo Stage, meanwhile The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown may very well bring you fire as one of the stand out bands to play over the whole weekend and one which is highly anticipated.
It’s a much smaller offering of bands compared to last year’s events but the quality that is being brought to these stages is completely off the chart. But what else does STONE Free Festival have to offer?
One of the biggest elements of the festival that gets the fans excited is the return of the Stone Free Festival Record fair. The main entrance to the O2 arena will be kitted out with the Entrance stage just like last year featuring a whole variety of bands to welcome you through the doors. Just past the stage will be the record fair that will have you reaching for your wallet time and time again. With plenty of old, new, rare and limited pressings, there will be ample opportunity to walk away with some fine slaps of vinyl that will keep you busy for days. It’s one of the top attractions of the day so be sure to get there early to grab those hard to find records before someone else beats you to it!
As usual, all restaurants and bars within the O2 shall be open and willing to take your hard earned pennies as you chow down on some great food all washed down with a pint making the festival one of the coolest all-encompassing days out you’ve had in quite some time!
The Stone Free Festival comes to the O2 Arena on the 17th Of June 2017.
